Caring4Girls [My Period My Pride]

 For $15 per pad kit, you will be providing four re-usable pads which can last up to a year and change a young girl’s life.  

 You can make a big difference by helping a girl have access to a sanitary pad, resulting to her right to education and restoration of her dignity.  

Without access to sanitary pads or other materials to contain the flow, girls stay home and miss school each month.  

We invite you to help keep girls in school by donating to this project, so we can increase the production of our reusable sanitary pad kits.  With interactive educational activities about menstrual health, we are breaking down the stigma that comes with menstruation.

 For young girls especially, menstruation is an addition to the heap of gender disparities they face in life.

According to a UNESCO report in 2014, 1 in 10 girls miss school in sub-Saharan Africa each year which translates to roughly 20% of the girls (and in some areas a much higher percentage) missing school on a regular basis. It is the number one reason why girls in Cameroon miss school or drop out altogether due to lack of access to commercial sanitary products. 

Menstruation is a natural process that girls and women go through at some point in their lives. It is disheartening that something as natural as a menstruation period can infringe on the basic human rights of girls and women. The lack of menstrual hygiene products that most girls and women face contributes to both their disempowerment and health.
